sound
artist mamoru / etude no.12
variation for eating "nori-no-tsukudani" together
Sound artist mamoru will
present two workshops with the etude no. 12 variation for eating
nori-no-tsukudani (laver boiled down in soy).
One in Osaka on 10.23&24(Fri&Sat) will be combined with
the workshop by the guest artist Jeanne Landry-Belleaufrom Canada/Quebec.
One in Tokyo on 10.31(Sat) will be arranged as a "gallery party" at
YUKA CONTEMPORARY that has just opened a month ago.
"etude" is a series of works that transforms everyday objects and
practices into sound art or means to create sound by simply
decoding/recoding their use and meaning.
There are several variations for etude no.12 and they have been shown worldwide including La Chambre Blanche(Quebec),MUMOK (VIenna), Diapason Gallery(New York) etc. This variation for eating
"nori-no-tsukudani"generate the act of eating subtly into creative act,
and the work completes as audiences eat and drink.
☆Do not worry even if you have never tried or
cannot eat the nori-no-tsukudani, mamoru will arrange it as a yummy
snack.

in Osaka
Jeanne Landry-Belleau (Quebec,
Canada) will lead a workshop related to her current
theme "iconography on internet culture". She has just done 6 weeks
residency program at HASLA Art World in Korea and developed her
research on the topic. She samples icon from Websites or mobile phones
and develope her own work out of it. Her workshop will be integrated
with sound artist mamoru's performance.
There is nothing artistic about eating and drinking at the
gallery!? however, at this Party, mamoru's etude will turn it into
creative process for an art work. The audience will be the
"colaborator" without knowing it.
On the way to this new gallery in Edogawabashi, you can step into a
very nice park along the river. Come by and let's have fun making art
with an afternoon party.
